What are psychological assessments?
Psychological assessments are an evidence-based way of collecting information on the way you think, feel, and behave in the context of your unique history and experiences in the world. This includes understanding how you function when it comes to everyday tasks in environments such as your home, school, and work as well as in your relationships. This information is then woven together to provide a snapshot of your current abilities and functioning as well as to provide diagnoses, recommendations, and answer questions posed of the assessor.
What Purpose do Psychological Assessments Serve?
Psychological assessments can assist with treatment planning/decisions and provide strategies to improve your functioning, accommodations for work and school, and clarity on your current experiences in the world. Gaining clarity, strategies, treatment recommendations, and accommodations based on your unique strengths, areas for growth, and needs can be one step towards improving your mental health, quality of life, and overall wellness. In complex cases, assessments may also provide guidance on what steps to take next to continue gaining more clarity.

REsources for Clients Scheduling Assessments
The following video is a summary of what you can expect in the assessment debrief appointment, which is the last scheduled assessment appointment in a psychological assessment. We sometimes cover a lot of information in a brief period of time in the assessment debrief appointment. It can be difficult to take all of that in and remember it. Watching this video prior to the debrief may help you be prepared and will help us focus on the most important part of the debrief - the results and recommendations. This will also give you a resource to refer back to that may answer your questions about the report once you've received a copy of it and are reviewing it.
